Up Close with Senator Ireti Kingibe

Ireti is a distinguished political leader, engineer, and philanthropist. Born into a culturally diverse family with a Yoruba-Fulani Muslim father and a Delta Ibo-Bonny Christian mother, she is fluent in Hausa, Yoruba, and Igbo. Ireti holds a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota and began her career as a Quality Control Engineer at Bradley Precast Concrete Inc.

She also worked with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Nigerian Air Force, before moving on to prominent roles with New Nigeria Construction Company, Belsam Limited, and Lodigiani Nigeria Limited.

Her political journey began in 1990 when she joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), serving as Adviser to the national chairman. She later joined the Labour Party in 2022, running for the FCT senatorial seat in the 2023 elections. Although she did not win, she was sworn in as a member of the 10th National Assembly in June 2023. Ireti has long been a champion of a Nigeria that provides continuous energy, personal security, quality education, and affordable healthcare.

In addition to her political and engineering career, Ireti has been a senior partner at Kelnic Associates and a strong supporter of philanthropic causes aimed at improving communities. Her dedication to both public service and private sector development makes her a remarkable leader in Nigeria's current political and professional landscape.
